It seems the Mobility Radeon 9700 isn't supported. They have the Mobility Radeon 9600 and 9800 in the support list but the 9700 has been omitted. All laptop owners with this chipset should be aware of this. I have read a report detailing terrible performance using the new drivers with this chipset. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=671385 Considering that a few years back, we paid a premium for this top of the line chipset for mobile graphics, I am angry that, once again, we have been left out in the cold by ATI. After spending hours trying to get my X1950Pro to work properly with Ubuntu, it is no wonder I replaced it with a Nvidia 8800GT. At least I can run any OS I want and have full driver support. Unfortunately, I can't replace my laptop's Mobility Radeon 9700 pro. It is a crying shame because it's still quite powerful even with only 64 MB Video RAM. ATI - Great hardware ruined by lousy software. AMD - Lousy hardware. AMD & ATI - Lousy hardware made worse by lousy software. P.S. I'm not an Intel or Nvidia fanboy.
